In the past year I asked for librarians' opinions on bifocal contact lenses in prep for my yrly eye exam. I wanted to let those of you who were interested know that my optometrist changed my regular glasses to bifocals and suggested I continue w/the same contact prescription supplemented by little half-glasses worn on a chain for reading fine print. Then he said that in a year's time I should try the bifocal contacts;the idea is to make me comfortable w/focusing two ways in hopes that it will make bifocal contacts easier to adapt to by this time next year (since in most of your opinions and his too, the bifocal contacts do require alot of getting used to!). I just thought this option might help someone else trying to decide what to do. I did not like the way the actual half-glasses looked so I got some small rectangular wire rims (like the musician in The Byrds used to wear, for those of you who were there and do remember the sixties!) (Jim or Roger McGuinn?) Now all I have to do is find some nifty chains and I am all set.(If anyone can suggest sources of such chains I'd be glad to hear of them.) I think it is good that we discuss our feet, our shoes, our eyesight, our eyewear, etc. on LM_Net. It is hard to work well if we are uncomfortable and it is great that so many of us are willing to share practical experience and suggestions.
