Bird symbolism

Greetings all.

I would like to know the symbolism of birds, specifically owls and crows. a
monitor at my school is not just talking about dreams; she wants to know
what it means when one keeps coming up in real life. She said when a
chicken tries to crow like a rooster it is a bad omen and the chicken
should be killed. Does anyone have info or a resource I can use to find
more about this? TIA
