A somewhat strange, but effective, way to use save a whole host of webpage
information from the Internet : if you are using Netscape, your computer
automatically saves the information in Netscape/Cache. Be sure that you
finish downloading the sound (if you have a plug-in like Crescendo, it will
play). When you exit Netscape, locate file "Cache." You can then move or
copy any of the files there to a new directory (be sure to do this since
Netscape might clear that file the next time you go online) and rename.
This procedure works for all files, so you can add the various .mid, .au,
.wav (sounds); .gif, .jpg (pictures); and whole webpages (unfortunately
Netscape doesn't use the original names, so you don't seem to get the
pictures/sounds when you again view them... but you, in fact, do have these
too). Those animated files are there, but, so far, I've found that they
animate only by creating a webpage and inserting them there.
A final note, the newgroup "alt.midi" is a great place to download .mid
files, locate webpages, or post requests for specific ones. These can be
saved the usual way. Earl Sande (Brent International School Manila)
