ces at an average savings of $14.06 per title over the previous HSPLS process,
a total savings of $1,293,000 per year for Hawaii taxpayers.

"All across the nation many public libraries are being squeezed by budget cutba
cks and downsizing, and Hawaii is no exception," said Wight.  "Through this con
tract, HSPLS has been able to save substantial public funds while keeping the b
ranches open and maintaining an outstanding level of service to Hawaii library
patrons.  Once the contract has gone through a complete budget cycle, these act
ual savings and improvements will be obvious to everyone," Wight said.

"Meanwhile, we are committed to work with HSPLS to strive for the best possible
 service--at the best value--for Hawaii library patrons," Wight said.
