TARGET-Internet vs. any other source

It would be interesting to hear what people consider the Internet BEST for.
For most information, I send kids to the print or CD ROM sources first.
However, what do people use the internet FIRST for?
I'll give a few examples.
I use the internet FIRST for:
-Addresses and Phone numbers for people (www.switchboard.com)
and businesses (www.bigbook.com) in the U. S.
-Car prices (www.edmunds.com)
-Street Maps (www.mapquest.com)
-Books in print (www.amazon.com)

any other good quick references?  I'll do a hit if I get enough replies.
