Just a note to let everyone know that the predictions for the
brightness of Hale-Bopp are true. This morning, some of the
newspeople at a New York City radio station could see the comet from
the roof of their building, in the middle of Manhattan.

I could see it clearly out in the country at about 5:20 am. It was in
the East-Northeast and well above the horizon. It was a clear spot of
light with a distintive tail. It will soon be visible in the evening
too.
