Media retrieval systems

We are seeking information regarding media retrieval systems.  Are they more
efficient than stand-alone setups?  Do those of you using them find you
spend less time with av requests?  Do teachers have control over the playing
of videos, etc.?  Can they stop, repeat, etc., the video?  Any enlightenment
you can provide will be appreciated. We would like the library media
perspective and the classroom teacher perspective, if possible.
