Many thanks to all those who wrote to me about their favourite literary criticsim CDROMs. DISCovering authors was mentioned and praised by 5 people, most of whom mentioned its ease of use, and comprehensiveness. Twayne's DISClit British and DISClit AMerian were mentioned by two people. One said they were not as user friendly as DA. More expensive, too Sribners Writers on CDROM was used and praised by one person, who said it gave 30 pages of information on each author. Gale's Contemporary Authors was used by one library. ANother recommended the Gale Reearch Module, which contains studies of several types of authors. EbscoMasterplots was another, used by one. Monarch Notes was used by one. (This is very much cheaper than the others) St James' books were used by two. Most people who had any of them expressed satisfaction and a high level of use by students.
