Sharon,

I LOVE all the new technology!! If anything, the pressure goes the other
way; I'm always trying to find ways to get the teachers to use it to its
fullest! I'm getting two more computers in the library, because the demand
in the lab was so high.

There's so much on the internet, and the CD-ROMs these days are fabulous. In
a small library, this counts for a lot. We can have so many different
encyclopedias, all up-to-date, now, for relatively low cost. We have
recently started using Electric Library, which is a simply wonderful online
periodical database. The push now is to get computers in the classrooms, so
I can start lending out the CD-ROMs...but for now, it's wonderful how many
former non-library-users it's all bringing into the library!

One of the things on the agenda this summer for me and the technology
coordinator is to get a web page up and running. Also, I've committed myself
to making a template for report cards...the sort of thing that helps get the
teachers into using computers.

Of course, it helps a mighty lot if you just like the technology yourself,
and if you have a technology coordinator who is committed to the library
also. I guess I'm just lucky...I'm in my element, and have a wonderful
partnership with my tech coordinator.

I hope things get better for you. And you can always call on this wonderful
group if you need help :-). We're so lucky to have each other!
