GEN: computers vs print

Carlton Martz asks "Your school is wired ...What is your role in this
environment?" Good question.

The main role is surely teaching users how to deal with the information.
It's information handling skills. It was never enough to say - "here's a
library with lots of answers - go find something useful".
Even if we assume all the answers are there (and that's a big assumption -
remember the definition of the World Wide Web: it's a gargantuan library
_without a librarian_ and where some madman has turned the whole lot upside
down and left it in a heap, with some vital bits missing) someone will be
needed firstly to guide people through it and secondly to show them how to
guide _themselves_ through it. And that's an everlasting job!
I don't see The Wired School doing away with the role of librarian, but
making it more important!
