TARGET>UNIT ON HUMAN TOLERANCE

Dear Friends,
A Science Teacher who teaches 8th grade transitional students (Spanish into
English) wishes to do a unit on Human Tolerance--that is tolerance to the
elements--such as in mountain climbing, natural disasters, etc.--the science
perspective--I have thought of materials re the Donner Party, the book
Alive--the film "Hey, I am Alive"--re a plane crash in Alaska--etc. Visuals
are very important, I believe, esp with transitional students-- to be used
only for idea starters--not show the whole video--

The problem is I do not have these materials at either of my middle school
libraries--and I think perhaps the books would be too hard anyway and too
long--they will be working in groups -- for 3 days of library time--She is a
great teacher and is always looking for a stretch for her students--I think
it is a great idea and appreciate that she collaborates with me on a regular
basis--

but I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with any specific ideas--please, please e-mail me--and yes,
naturally, I need this info ASAP!
