Thank you to everyone who responded. These were excellent sites to start off
with and they are now bookmarked for my students to access. The Library of
Congress site is sometimes hard to get to as it is a busy site, but it has
neat information. Following is my original query and the hits I received.

Subj: Target: Primary Sources for American History

Hi, I am a library/media specialist looking for good websites to use with my
students. Their topic is "peacemakers" and the teachers have given the
classes a list of notable Americans (mostly Nobel Peace Prize winners) to
research. The problem is finding the required primary source. Can anyone
suggest some good American History or Biography websites that we could try?
I would be happy to post any hits I receive.

Just five minutes ago I downloaded interviews of Peace Corps volunteers
found at the Peace Corps website (www.peacecorps.gov). I have a student
needing primary sources for her History Day paper on the Peace Corps. She's
tying it in with JFK and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Becky--Have you tried this one from the Library of Congress? It's
great. High schools use it a lot.

Hello Becky,

The Nobel Prize Internet Archive should be helpful. It has links for all
past winners. The address is
http://www.nobelprizes.com/

Also, there is an archive of articles on Time magazine's Man of the Year
from the 1920's to the present at
http://www.pathfinder.com/@@63c*LQUAiipCMHOc/time/special/moy/moypast.html.

Good luck!
