Sec: Reading incentives

Has anyone had success with stimulating the reading habit in grade 7 to 9
students, other than by using incentive programs such as Accelerated
Reader?

We have tried Readathons, booktalks, displays etc, and our English
faculty is enthusistc and knowledgable about the literature. But stll,
there is a noticeable drop-off in issues after Grade6.

Does anyone have successful ideas they would be willing to share?
