Current events

I have a class that I am going to work with that are doing a project on
important events of 1997.  Is there is list somewhere of important events
so far this year?  So far npr's archives look the best.  CQ Weekly Report
and any weekly news magazines and daily newspapers are filled, but I
wondered if there was something that would not require as much digging for
an initial list.  I know that at the end of next month there will be
plenty but that is too late!!!  Thanks, Michele
