SEC: Female Bildungsroman Fiction

For a colleague planning a senior English elective, I am looking for titles
that might fit under the above descriptor - or "bildungsromane", as I
believe the feminine form is.  Also - do you have very recent suggestions
for male coming-of-age books for advanced students ( such as "Rule of the
Bone" by Russell Banks).  Many thanks in advance!
