I have been reading the thread of shelving books and with each message have found something to agree with. It is easy to see both sides of the issue. For my 2 cents worth; I HATE shelving! I passed it on to a part time tech my principal went to bat and got for me. However, I CHECK his shelving frequently because I have found that while shelving books should be a fairly easy task, not many people can do it correctly. I have had well meaning teachers help me and have had to redo a whole shelf. I would never say to a principal or fellow teacher that I would not shelve books, especially if a cart load was waiting to be shelved. Teachers grade papers, type worksheets and run the copy machine, Principals answer phones and even substitute in classes, when shelving has to be done, I am the one who is responsible for seeing that it gets done. However, I will delegate while I have the chance. I do appreciate getting to express my opinion. Deborah Stafford Gen H.H.
