Wait a minute - I thought the beauty of Dewey was that like animals appear together
on the shelves - 599.5 is where all of the whale and other sea mammal books turn up
in my library, and 559.6 is where the elephants congregate.

On the subject of shelving by the animal and not by the Dewey number, some elves in
our library decided to alphabetize the state books. Weekly we would find all the
sets of state books beautifully reorganized in alphabetical order and I'd silently
scream. Whoever it was has not reappeared this year so far!
