Z39.50/Dynix/Follett

Our district has Dynix in 2 high schools and is thinking about putting
Follett in the  10 elementary schools . Plan was the 2 jr.hi's would also be
Dynix, they want to talk to the elems.  Does anyone have experience with
using Z39.50 to link up a district with different  automated systems?

And where does one purchase Z39.50 and how is it set up?  In other words,
does it take a skilled computer technician?
