This may be a tough request considering how fast the field changes, but here goes ... In the state of Virginia, new Standards of Learning have been implemented. Included in these are competencies for computer skills. For 5th grade, this covers use of Microsoft Works and a basic grasp of computer ideas such as bytes, bits, binary logic, etc. Problem is (surprise, surprise!) the state is requiring this with no resources provided for teaching or teacher training. Do you know of any resources -- books, videos, anything -- that could help teachers teach this field.(I won't even get into the matter that we don't have the computers to be teaching Microsoft Works to the number of kids we have!) This could also include picture books that talk about computer technology. I'm embarrassed to say that what our library has in 004 is little too nothing and out-of-date. Please help and let me know anything you think is good in this field for 6th grade and younger!
