More American School Directory Info...

Well I've got more information about ASD.  I just got off of the telephone
with Lynn Jackson who is a customer support representative at ASD.  If you
have been trying to find out about your schools information you may want to
give ASD a call at:  1-800-634-7747.

I spoke to Lynn and followed up on an email message which I sent ASD a
couple days before.  I again asked her to remove my school from their
listing.  If you have read Nancy Keane's message, well Lynn tried to tell
me that she could update my information for my school also.  I again stated
that I didn't want my school data updated, but wanted it removed from their
site.  She asked me why I wanted it removed and I mentioned to her about
the advertising which was linked to my schools site.  She asked for an
example, so I clicked on the "School Store" link and mentioned all of the
advertisers listed on the page.  I told her that I didn't appreciate my
school being linked with these advertisers without my knowledge.  She
mentioned that ASD was in the process of notifying all of the institutions
about the advertising.  I mentioned that I thought that was a little late
on ASD's part.

I then asked her to tell me how she was paid as a customer service rep.  I
asked her if she was paid through the money generated from the advertisers
on the ASD site.  She said she could not really comment on that.  I then
asked if she would have a job if there were no advertisers.  She mentioned
that she would not.

It seems to me that ASD is making money off of all of our school data.  I
mentioned the fact that I didn't mind having my site listed on WEB66,
because they were not making money off of my school's information, nor were
they posing as my schools website.

Please email them, and then give them a call.  I think we can make a
difference.  Lynn didn't seem to know that there was a group like LM_NET on
the Internet, much less a group of 8,000+ people who cared about accurate
information and ethics.  Let ASD know that LM_NET exists:-)
