Hi Gang!
Sorry this hit is so late. I just saw a request for similar information
which prodded me to get this done.

Thanks to all who replied. If anyone has additional suggestions, send them
along!

My request was for sources of information about plant and/or animal species
that included full taxonomy (classification) data. Below are the suggested
web sites and books. Thanks again to all who responded.

Have you tried Marshall Cavendish's Earth and Plant Encyclopedia (or is it
Plant and Earth?)

We have a similar assignment in a college level biology class. Hope
this will help. It is currently under construction but the NCBI should
be just what you need.

Try http://www.oit.itd.umich.edu:80/bio108/
Good luck.

One site that you could try for plants is:IAPT-MARY
SUPRAGENERIC NAMES DATABASE
http://matrix.nal.usda.gov:8080/cgi-bin/starfinder/0?path=suprag.txt&id=anon
&pass=&OK=OK

A great site for animals is
Animal Bytes by Sea World
http://www.bev.net/education/SeaWorld/animal_bytes/animal_bytes.htmll

You may want to start with "Living Things" web site. It may have some or all
of the information you seek. http://www.fi.edu/tfi/units/life/
