Target: TECH: BOOKS WHICH MODEL WRITING FORMS/TRAITS

I am a Teacher/Librarian in a K-6 school in Shoreline, a small district
just north of Seattle, Washington.  Like many districts we are using "The
First Steps" approach to teaching the process of writing. This approach was
researched and developed by the Education Department of Western Australia.
The 15 librarians in our district are developing a list of books K-6, that
are excellent examples of writing forms and writing traits that can be read
to students and used as models for their writing.  I am asking all of your
help in suggesting outstanding Fiction book models and in particular
picture book titles or truly fine examples of short Non-Fiction.  I will
post a hit of all replies as well as the list we have compiled. THANKS IS
ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
