Sorry this took so long to compile.

Mr. Popper's Penguins - Atwater (OK - I know this is pushing concept,
but the teacher and I included this because it might appeal to those
with a lower reading level and it does involve climate)

There were also suggestions for newer bios of Matthew Hensen who was on
an expedition with Peary.  I have not been able to find (in my very
brief attempts) the specific names of any books on him.
