Here is just an addition to Deborah's list of cold climate stories.  One of
my favorites is Chapter One "And You Wonder Why We're Called the Weird
Watsons" from The Watsons Go to Birmingham--1963. I also love the chapter
"Froze Up Southern Folk. I would recommend Christopher Paul Curtis as a
visiting author as well, he came to my university workshop last summer and
charmed all of the participants.  Do yourself a favor and enjoy it today.
