A couple of years ago I heard from an audiovisual equipment vendor that there was an OSHA rule that students under age 16 should not move AV equipment on carts. He told me of an accident in which a child was killed when a cart fell over on him. Ever since then I have had that as a rule in our library. I have sometimes been questioned about it. I have been looking for a copy of the OSHA rule or standard and have had no luck. I would like to find something to document that, rather than just depending on what the vendor said. I looked at the OSHA site and did some searches, but so far haven't found anything. Do others have this rule? Does anyone know where to find a copy of a law or rule pertaining to students moving equipment?
