From owner-lm_net@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Fri Oct 3 09:45:35 1997 Date: Fri, 31 Oct 1997 05:34:49 -0800 me to share the info I received and 2 responses suggesting web sites. Thank you Carolyn and Joyce. If anyone knows of any others, please send and I will post. Thanks! Here they are: ******* This is the best site that I'm aware of: Start here: http://www.mobot.org/MBGnet/vb/index.htm and go from there. Joyce Church ******* I have a web site with two different theme pages that I am sure wil have the information about "animals" of the rainforest/jungle that you are looking for. My site is "The Educator's Toolkit" and the URL is http://www.eagle.ca/~matink On the Themes link you will find two themes: Endangered Animals and The Environment. Hope these will have what you are looking for. Both pages have been updated within the last week so all of the links should be active. One teacher stated that she had heard on the >radio that the author does not get any money on his/her books that are sold >in Costco. Is this true? I only received one response, and that was asking me "So, Sara, is Costco a remainder/discount bookseller or, . . what?" Since I really want to know if this is true, I thought I'd better explain what Costco is. It is a huge retail/warehouse type store that you have to be a member of in order to shop there. I know it is called Price Club in California, but I do not know beyond that. You have to buy huge quantities of stuff. They usually have tables of books, software, videos, etc. at ridiculously low prices. I bought a copy of Jan Brett's THE HAT for $8.69. As I stated before, the other teacher said that the author doesn't receive any money for books sold at Costco. Does anyone know if this is true? +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Sara Miller, Media Specialist Wascher Elementary School Lafayette, Oregon millers@mail.yamhillesd.k12.or.us +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST For more help see LM_NET On The Web: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
