Sorry: the ampersand is the & mark. There was a discussion on this in Stumpers awhile ago. One post noted a William Safire 'On Language' column from the N Y Sunday Times Magazine where he discussed the various signs on a typewriter keyboard. One of them was @. According to Safire, It is called the 'at' sign, while sone people referred to it as a 'snail'.
