Hi! This is my first year as a librarian. I have a k-6 school and I desire desperately to do creative things this year. I want to take advantage of a gazebo and a beautiful flower garden in the courtyard. I am the only classroom which has direct access to the courtyard. Right now it is just beautiful (big sunflowers) and I want to use the area as much as possible while the weather is nice. The gazebo is big and can accomodate a whole class. Does anyone have suggestions for books that would fit in with this wonderful garden and gazebo? I was just hired have had a limited amount of time in the library and students are coming tomorrow. Do you allow students to check out on the first day? I don't have cards for everyone. Also, thank you to everyone who contributes their comments and expertise to LM_NET. The archives have helped me a great deal in preparing for my first year.
