Copyright question to ponder

I base my guess on the fact that even thought the students are freehand drawing
Buggs Bunny it is still recongnizable as Buggs and therefore property of the
copyright holder.  Anyone else who thinks this way?  But, if that is true then
what about a book that I have in my library -

Draw 50 Monsters, Creeps, Superheroes, Demons, Dragons, Nerds, Dirts, Ghouls,
Giants, Vampires, Zombies, and other curiosa...    by Lee J. Ames

Besides being the longest title in my collection, and making me wonder what a
"dirt" is, it features Darth Vader on the cover.  So, did Mr Ames get
permission to use Darth on the cover?  It undoubtably helps to sell his book
(therefore making money from another's copyrighted material).  Or, can he get
away with it being his interpretation of Darth?

What do you think?

Subject: Mackin Library Media

We are considering changing from our current jobber to Mackin Library
Media.  Does anyone have any experience with them:  quality of
cataloging; prices;  reliability; and media selection, prices, and
cataloging.  Thanks for sharing.
