I am having problems with Netscape Communicator for the Mac. It worked fine for a (short) while, and then started crashing whenever I went to certain sites (The New York Times, for example). When it froze the status bar on the bottom would say Starting Java. Norton calls the freeze an "Unknown trap type exception (Debugger/DebugStr)." On our local area network one of the machines was fine, so I just sent a new system folder from that machine over to all the other machines and that did the trick. However, now the same thing is happening to my standalone machine at home -- so I don't know what to do. The problem seems to be related to Java, and it must have something to do with something in the system folder. I love Netscape and want to use it with the kids, but the lack of technical support is a real drawback at times! Any ideas? I'll be glad to post a hit if this seems to be a general problem.
