After reading about some of my fellow media specialists' April Fools jokes, I figured I'd go ahead and send in the prank I played on my students and teachers. We are an Accelerated Reader school so I went to several of my most active AR classes and, with a most distressed expression on my face, informed them that we had had a computer crash and lost all of the test records for the entire year -- the students would have to start all over! You should have seen the look on the face of the fifth grade student with over 500 points! The teachers about flipped, too! I only let them agonize for 2 or 3 seconds before I told them, "April Fool!" (This was after a day of being told numerous times that I had a spider on my shoulder, a spot on my dress, etc.) The kids and teachers loved it that I really got them -- they were still talking about it today.
