Johanna, I have a very large three ring binder divided into two sections, active and closed. I keep a copy of my original purchase order and pertinent info about the order (who ordered it, etc.) in the binder. When the order comes in, I mark on the PO what was received and the date and staple the packing slip to the PO. When the invoice comes in, I OK it, make a copy for my binder, and send the original to the business office. When all paper work on the PO is completed, I move it to the closed section of the binder and write CLOSED on the front in red so it is easily recognizable. You can file the PO's by number or by vendor name, whichever is easier for you to find. It really helps me to have all the paperwork for an order together in one place. I can find things quickly and easily.
