TARGET>8th Grade materials for teaching economics; Contemporary

Hello out there in LM_NET land!

When our Social Studies Curriculum Co-ordinator asked me to identify materials
for a new 8th Grade curriculum, I knew just where to turn.  Can anyone
recommend materials for an 8th grade course on Economics (proposed for one
term)?  She has already looked at a Junior Achievement Program, but it is
really 4-6 grade, not 8th.

Also, if you know of any materials on teaching contemporary issues and the
developing world (nee "third world") - does the United Nations have any
educational programs?

Any help and recommendations you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
