Library Layoff in Rome!

The great slashing has occurred! Seven and one-half positions have been cut
from the Rome City School District for the '98-'99  school year. An apparent
loss in revenue and inaccurate accounting since 1992 has led to this
devastating move. 19 other positions are also slashed with more to come. Since
1988 Rome has been well staffed with professionals and assistants. What will
happen to our Mandarin system, networks, and slightly more importantly, the
students is beyond me. We are lobbying but the future looks dim...any input???
The seven remaining librarians will cover the 12 building. This takes us back
to 1978 staffing.
