I just had two history and two science classes through this morning to get information. One student intends to write his paper over Leonardo da Vinci. He asked to use my master computer station. When he told me what he was researching I said "no." I told him there were lots of books on da Vinci that he could/should use. We did have to use the internet to find certain products' R-value (as in insulation) A poignant example I heard given once at a workshop was after several hours of internet searching a student was referred to a book as the best resource on the Cuban Missile Crisis. The author of the book had done 30 years of research in writing the book. How do you persuade students that often, especially for historical topics, that a book is the BEST resource? Do you limit the pages they can printout--Do your teachers limit the electronic resources they can use--Do you require that they search for books first? I'd appreciate your words of wisdom on this one. TIA Kay Goss fup001@mail.connect.more.net Director, Library Media Services Mansfield High School #1 Rural School in Missouri P. O.
