TIA > Our treasurer's policy states that any fines or $$ collected from paid for lost books that were purchased with our budgets must be turned in to the board. That is, turned in to the district general fund. No one knows what happens to it after that. Paid for lost books that were purchased with individual library funds (like profits from a book fair), may be kept in a library discretionary account. I have always felt this policy is unfair. What incentive do we have to work hard to get books back, or paid for, if we can't use the money? We can't even use it to replace the very same title!
