Hi all,
        This is strange for me, I am posting an announcement about the
search for my replacement.  I am moving to Mississippi and the lab school
is advertising my position.  I wanted it to be shared with lm_net members
as I am sure many of you would be wonderful.  I love my job, it is very
hard work, but the people and challenges are terrific.  Here is the
announcement.  P.S. If anyone hears about a position in North Mississippi
near Oxford, MS I would love to hear about it.

Position Announcement
The Edith Bowen Lab School has an opening for a Librarian/Media Specialist.
This position will be filled on a continuous twelve month contract (8:00
a.m. -
5:00 p.m. daily).

Responsibilities
Managing the Anne Carroll Moore Library which is considered an agency of
the University Library and the media center for the Edith Bowen School.
Responsibilities and duties include: overseeing and supervising all aspects
of media center operation, including staff supervision, coordination of
services and budgetary matters with the university library, and collection
development; development and demonstration of university library systems,
and collection development; development and demonstration of innovative and
continuing educational programs; technology and research instruction for
the students (5-11 year olds) and staff of the Edith Bowen Lab School, USU
students, and USU faculty, as well as additional duties assigned by the
Edith Bowen School Principal; provide support to university classes and
departments, state and local agencies by offering orientations, lectures
and patron assistance; and involvement in conducting and validating
research.

Qualifications Required
1.      Master's Degree (or completion thereof anticipated by Fall '98), in
instructional technology or library and information science, with a minimum
of three years successful library/media experience.
4.      Effective communication skills in dealing with children, parents,
college students, and professional colleagues.
5.      Familiarity with the State of Utah's Core Curriculum and other
State sponsored initiatives.
6.      Willingness to work in a dynamic educational environment.
7.      The ability to be flexible and adaptable to program implementation
and scheduling.
8.      Ability to obtain Utah teaching certificate with library media
endorsement upon employment.
9.      Ability to work with a state core curriculum.

Additional Qualifications Preferred
1.      Experience with the use of technology in instruction.
2.      Experience with multi-disciplinary teaching and integrated instruction.

Salary
Negotiable - Based on background and experience.

Employment Begins
July 1, 1998
