Friends, I am making a keepsake box for a young friend who is getting married and it came to me that bride's use to have a coin in their shoe or garter. It was an English coin and I have been unable to verify it and do not want to place the wrong coin in the box. Was it a shilling or is my memory cloudy? Perhaps we have an English member with the right information. I will blame my vagueness on my being of Irish ancestry. My aunts do not recall this so maybe Irish bride's don't copy this tradition. Hope someone can put me on the right track.
