Many, many thanks to Jeffrey Hastings for posting the valuable HIT on overhead problems. Jeffrey, would you consider forwarding a copy of it to School Library Journal? And would the people who were quoted in it mind being quoted, either anonymously or not-anonymously? I feel this is a national scandal, deserving of full-scale investigative journalism. One possible additional solution: DEMAND that the manufacturers include a cooling fan---my new 3Ms (may they ROT in ......!!!!!) don't have a fan that keeps on going after the lamp is switched off. The old, old wonderful projectors used to have fans that would keep blowing even after you turned them off. So the bulbs got cooled and didn't blow more than once or twice a year.
