TARGET: middle school library help

As part of a graduate library science class, I recently "toured" a middle
school library in our area.  The "librarian" is an aide who has been there
about three weeks.  She plans to spend the rest of the year reorganizing as
best she can because everything is out of order (books, card catalog,
everything).  This summer  she will be responsible for ordering books, AV,
etc. with a $15,000 budget (sounds good to me) but has not idea what to order.
What recommendations do y'all have for middle school (grades 5-8)?  Please
send replies to my e-mail.  I will pass these on to her.
