NY only:certification

Dear fellow NY LM_NETTERS,
        I am posting this message in hopes that some of you are in or have been in
the same situation that I am in. I am pursuing my MLS School Media degree
through SUNY Albany- at the same time I have been subbing in a school district
for 6 years.
This year the librarian in the elementary school where I subbed exclusively
retired.
I interviewed for the job and was recommended by the interview committee and
the principal. I have the support of the staff of the school for this job,
including the retiring librarian!!! The Superintendent's office is balking
because I am not certified. I am trying to find anyone who is working
currently in New York as a school media specialist on a waiver until they are
done with the program. My principal says if I can get some names of people who
are currently doing this he has a better chance of persuading the
Superintendent's office.
If you are not certified in ANYTHING, and are currently working as a media
specialist in a school in New York state with a waiver while you finish your
degree, could you email me and let me use your name?  I appreciate any help
anyone can give with this.  TIA
