In response to my plea for suggestions to assist in cataloging books
with no CIP info (in my particular case these books are freebies,
donations, etc. that are too good to pass on to someone else, but not
something that I purchased specifically for our collection and do not
wish to spend great amount of time cataloging!), HERE IS THE HIT for our
wonderful colleagues:

1) Check your local library system (mine will catalog FOR me and send
the records on disk!)

2) Access databases from other library systems, print out their records
for each book, then type the information into your system. Suggestions
were:
        http://rrlc.library.net/
        http://maine.library.net
        http://www.silo.lib.ia.us/silo.html
        http://sunlink.brodart.com
        http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/dlcl/wiscat.html
        Library of Congress site: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/resdev/ess/
        http://www.auto-graphics.com/cgipac/mmx/odol
PLEASE NOTE: Many thanks to the wonderful people in Florida who invited
me repeatedly to use their database (http://sunlink.brodart.com). There
was an entire group of individuals who contacted me regarding exactly
how to use the database, print out records, etc. There certainly know
how to spread sunshine!

3) Access sites such as Wilson Library Catalog

4) Several people use and recommend _Marcive_, which provides the
service for a fee. http://www.marcive.com

5) Commercial programs, such as INTER-CAT (more info on this in another
posting later)

6) "Titlewave" CD from Follett. Write to
          webmaster@flr.follett.com

7) And finally, some wonderful common-sense suggestions from our LM_Net
pros:
Don't catalog anything that you don't REALLY want in your collection.
Get rid of it!
Group your books according to subject on the cart before you begin
Pay attention to how you have cataloged similar books already in your
collection

A few more responses may still trickle in. I will post them later.
Good luck, everyone!
