Yolonda's genius, 1996 by Carol Fenner This is the warm story of a girl's love for her younger brother. Although he has a learning disability, she is convinced that he is a musical genius because of how he plays his harmonica. They end up at a blues festival in Chicago and Yolonda figures out a way to get both of them back stage and they meet BB King. It is a wonderful story - although the ending wraps up a little too neatly. The family happens to be middle class African-American but the true story is the relationship between the brother and sister. The book cover says it is an Newbery Honor book. I picked up this 211 page book at our book fair. *** Frederick Muller fmuller@planet.net Halsted Middle School Library (973) 383-7440 ext.228 59 Halsted Street FAX (973) 383-7432 Newton, NJ 07860 ----- My book reviews are compiled at http://www.halsted.org/br.htm =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set-reset NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send email to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST 3) SET LM_NET MAIL * Please allow for confirmation from Listserv For LM_NET Help & Archives see: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=
