Here's the hit -- thanks to everybody who replied so quickly! The main difference between Pentium(r) II processors and Celeron(tm) processors is the amount of Level-2 cache that they have. Pentium(r) II processors have 512k of cache on them. (at least the 266MHz, and 300Mhz Pentium(r) II processors, the Pentium(r) II Xeon processors may have even more cache, depending on what configuration you buy. Although, for general home use you probably don't need (or want to pay for) a Pentium(r) II Xeon system.) The current 233MHz, 266MHz, and 300MHz Celeron(tm) processors have 0k cache. Having more cache allows the processor to access data more quickly. And that leads to better performance for most applications. Check out Tom's Hardware Guide for lots more info on CPU's, etc... http://sysdoc.pair.com/ For details, try the following from News.com: < http://www.news.com/News/Item/0,4,22891,00.html?st.cn.nws.rl.ne> Terri Lent Manassas Park HS/MS Manassas Park, Va. tlent@aol.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set-reset NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send email to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST 3) SET LM_NET MAIL * Please allow for confirmation from Listserv For LM_NET Help & Archives see: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=
