Hi all! I've had a request from the vocal music teacher at my school to find a way to circulate books containing musical scores (which are paired with an accompaniment computer disk) to better keep track of who has them so they hopefully can be returned in a timely fashion. History has shown that music students tend to hold on to these books and "forget" to return them. The books and disks are kept in the music room for easy access to the MIDI lab nearby. Bringing them to the Learning Resource Center for checkout is not really an option. I thought perhaps I could lend the music teacher my portable scanner and download the circ records for the music books at the end of the day. However, that means getting all those materials barcoded and entered into our system in the first place, and then losing the use of the only portable scanner I own. Any thoughts on how to help out the music teacher without adding a significant amount of work for the LRC staff? I will post any helpful suggestions!
