TECH: Flashpath formating problems PC - HELP!

I just got my Flashpath and smart media (16meg) both arre Toshiba and
the software will not let me format the SmartMedia.  It keeps giving
me an error F2.  Once I got a F4.  Does anyone know what these error
codes mean?  Does anyone have expience with this item who can
possibly help me?
