Please pardon that I am posting this request for information to two
listservs; however, I need information as soon as possible. Are any of your
schools or districts using Lexile and how does it relate to using programs
like Accelerated Reader or Electronic Bookshelf. WE have invested heavily
in AR tests and matching our collection to AR and there is a proposal in
our district to replace AR with EBS. I think it has something to do with
the fact that Scholastic owns both Lexile and EBS. I am not familiar with
how lexile works. I feel we have had a lot of success with AR and I know
that EBS is an excellent program also; however, I feel that training and
commitment on the part of the school is the most important ingredient in
any successful reading program. I will be in a meeting tomorrow concerning
this issue at the district level and need your help.
Thanks,
