Hey, everybody!
Here's my version of an African-American Christmas carol "Children Go Where
I Send Thee" adapted for Hannukah. Hey, we "borrowed" "Let My People Go"
and "Go Tell It On the Mountain" for Passover, so why not another for
Hannukah?

CHILDREN GO WHERE I SEND THEE
new lyrics c. 1992 by Sandy Pomerantz
Children, go where I send thee.
                How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee one by one,
One for the jar of holy oil,
                That burned, burned
                In Jer-u-sa-lem.

Children, go where I send thee.
                How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee two by two,
Two for the Shabbos candles so true.
One for the jar of holy oil,
                That burned, burned
                 In Jer-u-sa-lem.

(Continue adding verse by verse)

                Ten for the ten commandments.
NIne for the candles that look so fine.
Eight for the days we celebrate.
Seven for Hannah's sons in heaven.
Six for the stuff in the latke mix.
Five for the Maccabees who helped us survive.
Four for the sides of the dreidle.
Three for the years we fought to be free.
Two for the Shabbos candles so true.
And one for the jar of holy oil
                That burned, burned
                In Jer-u-sa-lem!

"It's got to be the going not the gettin' there that's good." Harry Chapin
in song "Take the Greyhound"
"But then, you could go both ways!" Scarecrow in movie "The Wizard of Oz"
