Sandy and group, >> So what are a lot of publishers doing? They are taking material that used to appear in one or two books and spreading it out into half a dozen<< This is not just being done with kids books. The most recent series by V. C. Andrews and Danielle Steel come to mind. They charge $4.99 each for a 4 or 5 book "series" and each book is around 100 or so pages and the "whole" story could be put in one book for $7.99! I think this is a way to get more of our money and appeal to those people who want a "quick read". It is very frustrating when they do this but I do know that many kids do judge a book by its thickness!
