Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry. =20

For those who wanted the meaning, here it is:
   =20
        If a child wants to borrow a book that you think is too =
difficult for him/her to appreciate, have the child turn to any page in =
the book and read it out loud to you.  Is s/he encounters a word that is =
unknown, then one finger is held up.  If all four fingers and a thumb =
are raised by the time the last word on the page is read, then that book =
might be considered too hard for the child. =20
        A rule of thumb (pun intended) that I use is, does the child =
want the parents or care-givers to read the book out loud for story =
sharing, or does the child intend to read it alone.  If it is for story =
sharing, then I allow a second choice to be made, too.
